Being Human duo launch independent company

Being Human's creator Toby Whithouse (above) and producer Matthew Bouch have setup their own independent production company, Scoundrel. They intend to have about six projects on the go, some of which will be scripted by Whithouse.

Already in the pipeline is a six-part hour-long series called Orphans, which will apparently be a superhero version of Being Human following a disparate group of superheroes who exist in a world that's gradually revealed to be very different to our own. I hope it's sufficiently different to Misfits, anyway.

Mistresses' co-creator Rachel Anthony is also working with Scoundrel on a six-part half-hour series called Revolver, which will open on the day of Winston Churchill's funeral and trace the "breakdown of Victorian morality" using a gang of youngsters living together in the '60s. A drama chronicling how the '60s changed society, eh. The British answer to Mad Men?

Matthew Bouch, speaking to Broadcast:

"In the process of doing Being Human, we discovered our sensibilities are very similar. They are very unorthodox in a way, certainly in the combinations of genres that we use. We needed to set up on our own so we could enjoy that freedom, and the spoils of our labour."
