Millenniun to continue in the virtual world!

As BacktoFrankBlack continues the fight for a Millennium movie, there are still many things out there to satisfy the Millennium faithful. One such thing is the upcoming Millennium Virtual Season 6. As reported on this site by Mark Hayden of TIWWA late last year, several Millennium fans have been hard at work developing virtual season 6.

Millennium is certainly no stranger to the world of virtual seasons. There have been two fantastic seasons to date. Virtual season 4 was headed up by the talented Dan Owens along with 11 other writers. The tremendous work they did was even recognized by Chris Carter and writers Erin Maher & Key Reindl. If you haven't read their work, go here.

After the success of virtual season 4, another group of dedicated Millennium fans got together to produce virtual season 5. Executive produced by Anthony J. Black and James Jordan, the season continued the story of Frank Black and the world of Millennium. Here is where you can go and read the 20 episodes created for Millennium Virtual Season 5.

Jump ahead to 2010 and Millennium is back once again with an all new virtual season. This time show runners Barry Renshaw, Joe McBryer and Harry Smyth will bring you a brand new season of Frank Black and Millennium! They started pre-production last year and the hope is to have the first new episode released in September of this year. To wet the appetites of the Millennium fan community, the show runners were kind enough to share a teaser of the first episode over at the Millennium fan community TIWWA which is run by Graham P. Smith.

I am sure everyone who is a Millennium fan is definitely looking forward to the new season of Millennium and we commend everyone who is behind virtual season 6. So, here at BacktoFrankBlack we ask that you all head over to TIWWA and read the VS6 teaser that the people behind virtual season 6 were kind enough to share. Please take a moment to thank the people behind the new virtual season and prepare yourself for another virtual season of excitement!

Morgan and Steinmetz salute BacktoFrankBlack

BacktoFrankBlack will be having a slightly sleepy period over the next two weeks as I'm moving house which will make my internet use sporadic at best (through Troy has some updates planned in that interim period, don't but before I depart for hopefully more improving pastures, we thought you'd like to see this!

These pictures were sent by Glen Morgan, showing himself and Selfosophist Mr Smooth, Richard Steinmetz both wearing BacktoFrankBlack T-Shirts, skilfully designed by our very own little wonder artist, Barry Renshaw.

A NEW MILLENNIUM - VIRTUAL SEASON SIX MOVES INTO PRODUCTION!

It was a show that some say was too dark for television, too disturbing for its audience, but it is now almost universally accepted that Chris Carter's Millennium was ahead of its time. Before CSI, before Criminal Profiler, before Numbers, Millennium terrified and thrilled for three outstanding seasons. In the countdown to the landmark year 2000, it revealed the darkest layers of the human soul, and those who would sacrifice everything to fight it's corruption and evil.

In 1998, the show was cancelled, but that wasn't the end. The following year a dedicated group of fans created their own continuation, a virtual season 4, that addressed many of the unanswered questions left by the show's premature end, and posed some of their own, in a series of weekly published screenplays, professionally formatted and produced. Another team, inspired by their success and creativity, produced a virtual season 5 in 2007, again to critical acclaim.

It seems the appeal of former FBI agent Frank Black and his battle against the evil that men do continues to grow with DVD sales and the BackToFrankBlack campaign, which supports both series' star Lance Henriksen and creator Chris Carter's wish to see a Frank Black feature film. In the meantime, fans do not only have the VS4 and 5 to enjoy, but over the past year, rumours and whispers of a proposed Virtual Season 6 have surfaced.

"Well, those rumours are true," confirms showrunner Barry Renshaw, a comic book and storyboard artist, and a longtime Millennium fan. "After months of development, plans have been laid down that will see Frank Black through not just a season 6, but a final season 7 as well. Millennium was, in my view, never just about reaching the year 2000. What happens afterwards to these characters is just as important, if not more so, than that date itself."

With a team of writers forged from the forum This Is Who We Are, including co-showrunners Joe McBrayer and Harry Smyth, Renshaw understands that everyone has their favourite aspect of the show, which had different executive producers on each season. "There are a few frustrating inconsistancies natural with any TV show, and indeed, with real life," he suggests. "Up to now, however, we at VS6 believe you have only seen certain aspects of the world of Millennium. Even Frank Black, with all his insight and heightened facilities, could never see the whole picture. With VS6, we aim to reveal the whole tapestry, and more importantly, ask what new questions and dangers and mysteries such a reveal will mean for Frank and and his now teenage daughter Jordan."

Episode 6.01 will be released on Friday 3rd September 2010, with each episode released weekly. In the lead up to that date, there will be teasers, special events, and multimedia material that will be released. In fact, some secrets of VS6 are already out there on the internet, if you know where to look.

However, the VS6 is not yet set in stone: "What we need right now are writers," explains Renshaw. "Each season has 22 episodes to fill, and although we at VS6 are few, the Group is Legion. So we're inviting interested writers to get in touch via the TIWWA forum. If you would like a chance to help define the future of Frank Black, and to help raise public awareness for the BTFB campaign, now is the time to get involved. We need writers who can not just bring ideas to the table, but who know how to format and pace a screenplay for TV. Your ideas don't need to be fully formed, as of course the showrunners and story editors will help shape them for the season and fit them into our planned arc, but we would like all potential writers to have submitted their interest in the project by 25th December 2009."

The clock is ticking. The time is near. And for some, it's running out.

BackToFrankBlack.com, throws it's support behind this project and behind Barry and the team and if your are interested in being part of this virtual season and helping the team in the way they have described above simply email us at info@backtofrankblack.com and we will forward your correspondence to them.

Lucy Butler Week - Day Four - T-SHIRT THURSDAY!

Roll up, roll up! Time to get your infernal claws on a couple of exclusives courtesy of designer and illustrator, Barry Renshaw. Those in the know will already be aware that Barry has created an exclusive range of merchandise for this campaign. Taking subtle nods from some of the finest episodes on the canon, Barry has designed a stunning range of T-Shirts, the profit from which is being saved towards a print ad campaign that we so desperately need.

Despite being unduly busy, Barry has created two designs in support of Lucy Butler Week and I am sure you will agree with me that these are just fantastic (click on the images to open them in a new window and view them in better detail.)

Who can forget the scene in Antipas in which Lucy gives Frank Black the bbenefit of her *ahem* attention in the Little Red Wagon Motel? Fond of that episode? Well now you can wear that pride quite literally. It doesn't stop there, oh no, when you've that many souls to cater for our Legion Tee should appease the fashionistas out there regardless of which personality is at the fore.

As always, everything we do has a serious message: purchasing a tee from our store raises a small amount of money that will allow us to consider options hitherto unavailable to us so please consider making a donation and looking dapper in the process.

Mark x

Please note, our merchandise store is currently being upgraded and our previous designs are unavailable to view at present. Please check back shortly to view the complete range when the upgrade has completed. Thank you.

To listen to love is blue as you peruse our Blog this week use the 'Love Is Blue' cassette links that will feature on every 'Lucy Week' blog post. Just click the link and a new window will open which will play the tune. Oh, and keep looking over your shoulder in the process eh?

Because We Can't Just Sit Back And Hope For A Happy Ending!

Old Redeye is back and that's not to suggest Barry Renshaw has been a little greedy with the sauce but rather to announce the return of the monthly magazine, this time in pdf format, primarily focussing on the indie British comics scene. What can we say, it's quite simply brilliant and is bursting at the seams with news, reviews, features and art and is more than worth the measly £1/$1.50 price of a download.

To BackToFrankBlack campaigners, Barry is no stranger. He created and designed our exclusive merchandise range, is an active member of the Millennium fan community, created the artwork that graces our intro page and continues to plug this campaign with a five, yes five, page spread in this very magazine.

Showing support for the people that in turn support us is vital. Their time, devotion and energy for this campaign swallows their spare time and is done for with nothing asked for in return. Support the supporters is a phrase I'm fond of so do exactly that. £1 of your money will entertain you more than you ever thought it could.

• REDEYE MAGAZINE ISSUE 2.1: 114 pages, colour, PDF format, 82mb direct download. Just £1/$1.50! Download it from www.enginecomics.co.uk/redeye

THE THINGS THEY'VE TOLD ME: FAN T-SHIRTS!

As you probably know this is one of most important Blog categories as it's your category. It's the category in which we share all your thoughts, email, photos and more besides and bring it to the attention of each other and, hopefully, the people that matter. Rhonda is one individual who has approached our campaign with gusto, tireless in her support of us, she never ceases to amaze me with her tremendous spirit and evident passion for Millennium and Frank Black.

Like a great many of you, Rhonda kindly supported our campaign by purchasing from our exclusive merchandise range designed by illustrator, Barry Renshaw.

We are always delighted when you are delighted and even more so when you take the time to show us how fine you all look in Barry's creations. It's even more heartening that Rhonda's daughter, Celeste, got in on the act and helped her mother with the photographs, it's so touching to know this campaign has become something of a family affair.

As you can see, it isn't difficult to make a huge impression. A letter here, a Polaroid there and the odd photo or two gives the fans a voice and a face and that's worth infinitely more than any blog post I write, or interview that we do. It is you, the fans, that hold the fate of Millennium in your hands and let's face it, "...we're not prepared to sit back and wait for a happy ending" are we?

So please keep your emails, blog comments, photographs and more coming. We need to mobilise our forces and become Frank's army. Let's fight the good fight till Lance Henriksen gets what he has always wanted, a Millennium Movie.

It would also be amiss if I didn't mention that tomorrow is Rhonda's birthday so I am sure you will join with me and all the team at BackToFrankBlack in wishing her a very happy birthday indeed.

Firstly, our kind thanks to all those who have supported this campaign by purchasing one of Barry Renshaw's exclusive designs. We are delighted by the feedback we have received and we are especially grateful to Troy, Rhonda, Josef and others for sharing images of themselves sporting their tees and looking mighty fine in the process, we will continue to share these with you as we receive them.

Barry listened to the feedback and suggestions he received and we can proudly unveil the third wave of designs that he has been busy beavering away on. Inspired by 'Borrowed Time', 'Beware of The Dog' and fan favourite 'The Curse of Frank Black', I am sure you will agree with us that Barry has surpassed himself yet again. Never one to rest on his laurels, a fourth wave of designs are currently on the drawing board including one I am just dying to see. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to which one that is?

Not only has the range of designs increased but the range of apparel has also evolved to include ladies wear, long sleeved tees, heathered ringer tees and vests - absolutely something for everyone.

There's a very serio
us point to Barry's work beyond catering for our wardrobes, every purchase of one his designs provides a small amount of revenue that this campaign can plow back into our efforts. Print adds, press kits and more besides have all been discussed in the past but we simply do not have the funds to undertake some of the things we know this campaign needs. So, help us fight the good fight, make a purchase, support the campaign and wear a little bit of something you love in the process. This is who we are!

Each tee purchased makes a very modest profit that can be channelled back into the campaign allowing us to explore other avenues that have this far been closed to us.

B2FB Exclusive Merchandise NEW PRODUCTS LAUNCHED!

Due to the sensational response to the first wave of exclusive campaign t-shirts, created by artist, Barry Renshaw, the budding fashion designer has been hard at work on a second collection exclusive to this campaign. With subtle nods to The Mikado, Walkabout, Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense and more, Baz has created a second wave of designs even better than the first.

This campaign is funded from the pockets of the individuals who work so hard to make it happen, it is not our intention to make any personal profit through this venture, our aim is to provide for the considerable demand for campaign products as well as provide a little money we can channel back into the campaign itself.

So, without further ado, head on over to our merchandise store and peruse the new designs that are now available for purchase. As well as loving to hear from you guys, Barry is very willing to know what designs you would like to see in the future, I know he is already considering a third wave of designs and some of his ideas are superb.

BTFB launches official merchandise range!

A number of times during the course of the campaign we have been asked about the possibility of campaign t-shirts, yes, it seems you good people are wanting to display your support of Frank Black and Millennium for all to see. Now, being the creative bunch we like to think we are, this got us thinking about providing some tasty tees for you, the fans, and in the process create a way by which this campaign can raise vital monies in order to further fund our efforts.

The cost of running our website, mailing competition prizes and numerous things besides all come from the coffers of the good people behind the campaign and, as such, we haven't been able to do all the things we know this campaign so desperately needs such as purchasing print adds in major publications.

Treating yourself to something a little special will certainly help us with many vital efforts in the future.

Artist, Barry Renshaw, came to the campaign's assistance, yet again, creating a range of stunning, licence free designs inspired by some of the more subtle motifs familiar to fans of the franchise, I am sure you will agree with me that the end results are simply fantastic. Our thanks to Barry as always.

If you would like to make a purchase you can check our complete range of t-shirts here. Rest assured, what small profit this venture affords us will be ploughed, every penny, back into the campaign and moving it ever onwards in the future. If you would like to comment on the range, share your ideas for future additions or merely give Barry a well deserved pat on the back don't hesitate to use our comments section. We love to hear from every single one of you. Till then, happy shopping!

THE MADNESS OF ART - EXCLUSIVE MILLENNIUM COMIC STRIP!

Dear friends,

You may have noticed our homepage has undergone something of a make-over with a stunning front page created by campaign supporter and illustrator, Barry Renshaw. As I am sure you will agree, it takes an extremely talented individual to condense the entire three seasons of Millennium into a two page comic strip but Barry has done just that with some fantastic art work to boot.

Just so you can see his creation in all its glory, here it is for your enjoyment. Click the image to open it in a separate window for easy viewing. After you have finished enjoying his work please leave a comment or two for him to see, showing your appreciation for all the hard work people do on our behalf is very much appreciated.

So, whilst we wait, fairly patiently, for a Millennium Movie to be made, why not appease our appetites with a Millennium comic book adaptation, I think Barry presents the perfect case for why this would be such a welcome and enjoyable idea. Read on......
