Seven and One: Richard Ovenall
Another Seven and One for the blog, gifted to us by you, the people who read us. Through your Seven and One fan interviews you help us provide evidence of the wide support the franchise continues to elicit.
To this end we asked you to consider taking a few
moments of your time to complete a simple questionnaire that we can
utilise.
So without further ado....!
SEVEN AND ONE!
1. About You.
My name is Richard, I work as an estimator in the building industry. In my spare time I do a spot of bellringing (aka 'campanology'), collect autographs and graphic novels, go to pub quizzes and am a retro TV fan. I like music from the 60's up to the 90's mainly.
2. Why are you a fan?
It was at the time The X Files was starting it's fourth season. I was reading in Dreeamwatch, TV Zone and other genre/sci-fi magazines about a new TV series from Chris Carter called Millennium. I was drawn to the fact it was something completely different from The X Files and would stand on it's own as a quality television series (I hadn't heard of Lance Henriksen much, and I hadn't seen many or any of his films up to that point). I was also drawn to the striking visual imagery in Millennium and the music. In hindsight it had iconic imagery from the off and this has carried on throughout the three year run and has continued in fans' work and appreciation for Millennium.
3. How long have you been a fan?
I've been a fan probably since I first saw it on ITV (and later on Sky One. Although the third and final season was shown here on Sci-Fi I didn't watch it then).
4. What's your favorite episode?
Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense, although Dead Letters is a close second.
5. What's your favorite scene or moment?
For an adorable scene, you can't beat Jordan licking her father's nose when the family arrive at their new home in Seattle, and later on when Frank surprises Jordan with a pet puppy dog.
For a funniest scene one that is hard to beat is in Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense, when Frank (wearing a blonde wig and light blue lab coat) grins/laughs and punches another male character in the groin. I laughed a lot when I first saw that scene (and the episode as a whole).
There are so many serious, thrilling and scary scenes that I genuinely can't pick one out of all of them.
6. If a movie was made which characters would you like to see in it?
Easy...Frank, Jordan (you've got to have those two in it), Peter Watts, Catherine (in a flashback or ghost role), Lara Means (there's plenty of story left to tell with this character), Emma Hollis, Bob Bletcher (same with Catherine, in a flashback or ghost role) and you've got to have Giebelhouse in it (loved his humour in the series).
7. Why do you think Millennium should come back?
Because I believe it still has a relevance in today's world, perhaps even more so than back in 1996-99 when the show was on the air in the US.
8. What are you watching right now?
The Law & Order shows (the 'mothership', as it is known in the US, Special Victims Unit and Criminal Intent), The Simpsons and Millennium.
Please keep these coming and do not hesitate to send us all your thoughts and queries on anything Millennium and Frank Black related and you do not have to use your real name to qualify. If you would like to complete the brief questionnaire I have listed the questions below for your perusal.
