Happy Birthday, Joselyn Rojas!

Today marks the birthday of our very own vidder - to use the parlance of our times - the wonderful and talented Joselyn Rojas!

Joselyn's will be a familiar name to followers of this campaign as well as online fans of The X-Files, with her hugely creative talents frequently adorning both fandoms. As well as her occasional column Joselyn's Eye, in recent weeks and months alone she's brought a stream of fabulous videos to illuminate this very blog. To name but a handful, included amongst them are those celebrating the female leads of Millennium - Catherine Black, Lara Means and Emma Hollis - not to mention the impressive awareness video for our ongoing Children of the Night charity auction. The Back to Frank Black blog would certainly be less cinematic without her creative touch and, for that matter, our meetings would be altogether less colourful!

So, all of us here at Back to Frank Black would like to wish Joselyn Feliz Cumpleaños and we invite you to do the same by joining us in telling her how wonderful you think her work is too in the comments section.

Illusions & Dreams - Emma's Choice

We are back with another installment of Joselyn's Eye. Today's featured video is a tribute to season three's Emma Hollis, played by the wonderful Klea Scott. With the exit of a beloved character in season two and the introduction to a new character in the third season, some people were hesitant at first to give the character a fair shot but, over the course of the year, both the writing and Klea's portrayal definitely led people to appreciate the character .

One of the great dynamics of season three is the relationship between Emma Hollis and her father, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. She is given the opportunity by the Millennium Group to help cure her father in exchange for becoming a member of the group. What would you do? Take a look at this fantastic video by Joselyn Rojas... then decide.

Take a moment and leave your thoughts about the video once you finish watching it!

Millennium Movie Poster Project: The Winners!

Well, the time is now. We are now extremely excited to reveal the winners of the Millennium Movie Poster Project! We're doing this in style too, as we exclusively bring together judges Lance Henriksen, Klea Scott and Mark Snow for an extra special podcast to discuss their choices. And you can listen to that right here.

Also summing up those deliberations, we have another stylish video from the wonderful Joselyn Rojas, so you can see those winning designs once again. Enjoy!

Congratulations, then, to our worthy overall winners. And yes, as Lance also revealed in the podcast, everyone who entered is a winner with this competition, and that somehow seems apt. We've also updated the Gallery Showcase to credit all the artists too, as promised, so be sure to go back and take another look at their work.

So all that's left is for Brian A. Dixon and I to thank everyone for taking part: from our top three winners to all the other entrants, to Lance, Klea and Mark for taking the time to consider and discuss them, and Lance in particular for also providing such great prizes, to Joselyn for all the snazzy visuals she provided to accompany the project, and of course to James and Troy for co-ordinating people behind the scenes, as always.

It's been huge fun and also a tantalising glimpse into so many incarnations that a Millennium movie could take, and everyone here at Back to Frank Black will be sure to bring you further such exciting projects very, very soon...

Ezekiel Editorial: TIWWAAW

This editorial is a little bit of a minefield. Little silver disks in a muddy field with "backslapper" stuck on them. I don't want this to be about backslappage, more about who we are. TIWWAAW to be precise: This Is Who We Are And Why.

The team, as you may have noticed, has expanded - which was a nerve racking thing to do, given if you're used to a certain dynamic, there's always a fear of spoiling that said dynamic. There has been no evidence of such, which is very encouraging.

For the most part of this year (and a hard personal year it has been, I have to say), myself and Troy have worked pretty much alone with the occasional input from some very dear contributors like DiRT, MR Sellars and Alison Nastasi. So this was quite a shake up.

Now we have a team which is working very professionally and I'm rather thrilled about it. One of the most exciting things for me personally is to have both godfathers of Millennium fandom involved in different ways. Millennial Abyss creator Brian Dixon is a great consultant. He has worked hard brainstorming and putting together the poster campaign. Brian is bright, open to ideas and from my experience always very positive in his approach to problem solving. The second godfather, so to speak, is Graham Smith of TIWWA is more of a silent supporter, but his support and contribution should never go unheeded. He supports the website financially and asks for nothing in return, but is never forgotten. If there is a technical issue, he's the first person to turn to and always has an idea to solve any problem. So having these two people who inspired my interest in Millennium helping us is very exciting. You'll see links to their respective sites down the side of this page. Please visit.

We also have Adam Chamberlain from Fourth Horseman Press - Brian's cohort, who has again being working as a direct consultant and helping on the blog. Both have a regular series planned for the blog too. Watch this space. Adam is very British. Calm, well mannered - easy to rib and very easy to talk to. Personally I prefer ribbing him than talking to him. There I go again. Can't stop teasing the chap.

Joselyn Rojas is a very talented video editor who has stunned Lance, Mark Snow and Tom Wright by her work. She's integral to the upcoming projects and the provider of those wonderful Movie Poster videos. A talented and dedicated individual who is enthused and smart. She's bubbly to the point of exploding. If she likes an idea, you'll know straight away.

Currently, while not team members, Avi and Tiffany from X-Files News.com are also major players in the future for BacktoFrankBlack. With such close connections between the shows and their extensive understanding of campaigns, it would be insane for both groups not to have common ground. These two are fun girls but serious when it comes to business. Never to be under-estimated!

And then there's Lance. He'd be upset if I said he's vital to the campaign, but his support cannot go unnoticed. He drives ideas, pushes the team and challenges what would normally be considered impossible. We're all a unique bunch, be we staff or fans, and that's a point he always stresses - that he is no more important than anyone else who cares about Millennium, but he does have a very active role and interest in the campaign, the concept and the fans - as those who have joined his Facebook page will know - and that page truly fascinates him. He loves seeing what the fans think and do. This guy flares up with an idea and then he'll not stop until its realised. It's his gift. It's his cur- well, no, just a gift really.

Finally, Troy, who never runs out of juice. Always there to join up the dots and push the envelope. But you all know that by now. Essentially he is the anti-me. And that works somehow. Easily amused, rarely tired and always, unswervingly a believer.

But that's the people involved right now. Brian, Adam, Lance, Joselyn, Troy and myself - with Avi and Tiffany throwing in some exciting ideas and Graham there holding us up so we can do this stuff. Our regular contributors are there too - DiRT, Murv, Alison.. all in the wings. All working in different ways but all working together.

Each year comes and I wonder how we'll top the previous year. I think we're topping like we've never topped before. Was this backslappage? I hope not. I'd like to think I can tell you what we're currently about, who we are about and why without it turning into a "aren't we great!!" post. We are all just fans - and I like to think by occasionally letting you guys know how we're working gives you an insight into what's happening and perhaps humanises the campaign somewhat, gives you an idea of who these people are.

And who am I? Well just like Zaphod Beeblebrox, I'm just some guy, you know?

Catherine Black Tribute

BacktoFrankBlack is pleased to bring you another tremendous video for your viewing pleasure. It's been a while since we posted an original fan made video, but we definitely will make this a regular feature as our resident vidder Joselyn Rojas has become part of our team. This is her time to shine with Joselyn's Eye!

Today we bring you a heart wrenching tribute to one of the most beloved characters on the show, Catherine Black. Many fans were sad to see her succumb to the evils of the Marburg virus at the end of Season 2. We ask you all to get out the tissues because this one will definitely cause a few tears to fall for our beloved Catherine!

If there is a video tribute you'd like to see or if you have an idea for a video, please let us know by sending your ideas to info@backtofrankblack.com. Enjoy!

Lara Means Week: Tom Wright Speaks!

Lara Means Week was a wonderful success - and I don't mean that in a "slap the backs of Troy and Jim sort of way", I mean in the wonderful contributions we had to make the week work. We just thought we'd share a little feedback we had from Millennium director Tom Wright. We do keep saying "they" are reading what is said at BacktoFrankBlack, so with his kind permission, here is Tom's feedback.

In regards to Alison Nastasi's Tuesday piece:
"ALISON HAS DONE A FANTASTIC PIECE ON LAURA HERE.
THIS TAKES ME BACK TO THE EPISODE IN WHICH LAURA DIED. ALL THE TRANSITIONS SHE WENT THROUGH. WOW, REALLY DOES TAKE ME BACK.

ALISON. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, AND I HOPE TO READ MORE OF YOUR 'DREAMS' SOON."

And a further comment on Wednesday's video b
y Joselyn Rojas:
"WELL, WITHOUT A DOUBT ANOTHER TERRIFIC ARTIST.
AGAIN, MEMORIES LIKE CRAZY FLOODING BACK INTO MY HEAD.
A LOT OF THOSE IMAGES WERE MINE.....AND THAT ONE EPISODE WAS REALLY FUN TO DO.
EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME.

ALSO WANT TO SAY TO JOSELYN, A REALLY FANTASTIC JOB. I'VE WATCHED THE VIDEO (6) TIMES NOW AND I'M SURE I'LL WATCH IT AND SHOW IT MANY MORE TIMES.
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR CAREER AND THANKS FOR LETTING ME IN ON IT.
THE BEST TO YOU
!"

Our interview with Tom will be up soon. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!

We've had some good videos on this site before, but I think you will agree that this is probably one of the best that we've had. A special thanks to Joselyn for creating such a fantastic tribute to a fantastic character!

BackToFrankBlack wish Chris Carter A Very Happy Birthday!

Chris Carter needs no introduction but as it's customary to follow those very words with an introduction allow me to do just that. Christopher Carl Carter (born October 13, 1956) is a screenwriter, producer and director best known as the creator of The X-Files and Millennium. Upon the creation and production of The X-Files in 1993, Chris Carter started a production company called Ten Thirteen Productions. It is named in honour of Carter's own birthday and anniversary, which is October 13. It will not be lost on any of you that today is that very date.

For any fan of Millennium or The X-Files, Ten Thirteen resonates as far more than a collection of numbers. Not only is it the birthday of their creator but those numbers appear throughout the episodes of all Ten Thirteen's output in recognition of the man who created them. Spotting them makes for a great drinking game I am told but due to the frequency of their appearance that might not be wise.

Yesterday I was contacted by a wonderful lady and ardent Ten Thirteen fan by the name of Joselyn, who shared with me a rather stunning video she has made to commemorate this special event and pay her tribute to Chris Carter and his wonderful work. It is a pleasure to bring her video tribute to you today and I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as do!

I thought the video was beautiful and a true testament to the creativity Chris Carter's various visions inspired, and continue to inspire, in the countless individuals who are fans of his work. On that rather wonderful note I hope you will join with all of us at
BackToFrankBlack and Chris Carter's fans the world over in wishing him a very Happy Birthday!

Mark x
